Daniel Lekunga is a missionary, sent from our church in Dar es Salaam to his people, the Masai. At Daniel's invitation, a team of men from Dar es Salaam and Arusha traveled to the remote village of Elerai last week. Daniel was honored by the tribe to host a special initiation ceremony for one of the young men of that village.
A cow was slaughtered and consumed in just a matter of hours. The ceremonial drinking of blood was one of the highlights of the festivities.
Men and women chanted and danced in a breathtaking display, seldom observed by outsiders. It was an awesome sight.
In the evening of the 2nd day of ceremony, the team was allowed to hang a white tarp from the trees, making an outdoor cinema theater. Using a small generator brought from the city, the Jesus film was shown in the language of Kimasai. At the invitation, many responded to salvation. Please pray for Daniel, and the continuing evangelism and church planting work being done among his people in this remote region.
